    Leroy Edward Walker
    Oct. 21, 1933 – March 24, 2020

    Leroy Walker

ELBERTA — Leroy Edward Walker Sr. passed away on March 24 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.

Leroy was a proud member of the founding Walker family of Orange Beach. He was born on Oct. 21, 1933, to Roy Elwood Walker and Evelyn Gray Dietz Walker.

The family includes his wife of 60 years, Stephanie Funke Walker; daughters, Kathleen Walker Gordon (Al), Robina Walker Hogeland and Stephanie Michele Walker-Harmon (Tim). Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and both of his brothers, Warren “Buddy” Walker and Jerry Walker, and his son, Leroy Edward Walker Jr.

Leroy was born and raised a fisherman and was happiest on the water. He was a well-known and loved charter boat/commercial captain for most of his life, leaving it only to serve during the Korean War in the Coast Guard and worked in the oil field for 13 years before retiring.

He and Stephanie were members of Orange Beach Presbyterian Church and then Swift Presbyterian Church after moving to Elberta in 2004.
