    Stewardship Sunday focus on fellowship

    Dedication of Swift Church historical marker is today at 3 p.m. in the chapel, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. The marker has been placed on CR 20 near Coleman Lane as part of the Baldwin County Bicentennial Celebration. After the reception, a photographer will be available at the marker for individuals and groups who wish to have their picture made beside it.

    for light refreshments and conversation with the church family.

    Getting involved at Swift this week 

    Monday through Sunday, Oct. 14–20 — Pastor Keith and Lisa will be in Pell City, helping his mother prepare to move to Foley. If you are in need of pastoral care, please contact Pastor Jody Beth, your deacon or the church office at 943-8367.

    Monday, Oct. 14 — We celebrate Columbus Day.

    Wednesday, Oct. 16 — No handbell rehearsal today

    Thursday, Oct. 17 — Bible study on the Gospel of Matthew, 10 to 11:30 a.m. in room 2 in the annex (See below for details.)

    Friday, Oct. 18 — English as a second language class, 9 to 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall

    Sunday, Oct. 20 — Pastor Jody Beth will lead worship at 8:00 and 10:00 services. Stewardship focus on worship.

    Sunday, Oct. 20 — Cheryl Jensen’s adult Sunday school class will not meet today.

    Wednesday, Oct. 23 — Food pantry distribution, 10 a.m. to noon. Dorothy Warren and Sue Johnson are our volunteers.

    Wednesday, Oct. 23 — Handbell choir rehearsal, 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary

    Thursday, Oct. 24 — Bible study on the Gospel of Matthew, 10 to 11:30 a.m. in room 2 in the annex

    Friday, Oct. 25 — English as a second language class, 9 to 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall

    Thursday morning Bible study 

    A 12-week Bible study based on the Gospel of Matthew began Sept. 19. This study uses the Bible and a study book, Six Themes in Matthew Everyone Should Know. Pastor Jody Beth and Elder Philip Melton facilitate. The cost is $12 and scholarships are available.

    This group will continue to gather in room 2 in the annex from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays through Dec. 12, with Thanksgiving off. Come for study and fellowship. Contact Pastor Jody Beth for more information and to sign up,, 213-6625.

    Upcoming events for children and youth 

    Fall festival Oct. 20 will be a fundraiser

    The fall festival will be Sunday, Oct. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church. The youth will be in charge of the fall festival as a fundraiser. We will have soups, trunk-or-treat, costume contest, games, and a hayride. Lots of fun for everyone! Come and support the youth. Please let Tara Morrow or the church office know if you would like to bring a crockpot of soup and/or participate in trunk-or-treat.
