The deacons will meet today at 11:15 a.m. in the church annex, room 2.
If you would like to donate flowers in honor of or in memory of someone for our 10 a.m. Sunday service, please contact Susie Alexander at 251-943-4145.
Are you willing to serve as an acolyte or lead “time with the children”? Contact Greg McNair, worship elder, at 251-965-1003 or email@example.com.
Butterfly Girls and Guys Night Out has been tentatively moved to Thursday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at Vallarta Mexican Restaurant, 1145 S. McKenzie St., Foley, next to Winn-Dixie.
In order to allow time for the session to confirm if we can return to gathering as an official church-sponsored event, we are tentatively moving from the usual third Thursday to the fourth — Oct. 28. This will allow adequate lead time to plan after the session meets on Oct. 18. Watch the Oct. 24 weekly announcements for confirmation if it’s a go. If approved, please confirm plans with Mary McNair at 251-295-5267 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Saturday, Oct. 30 • 5 p.m.
Christian education will host an evening of fun with trunk-or-treat, games, and food. Volunteers are needed to help with trunk-or-treat. If you would like to contribute, but not participate in the trunk-or-treat event, we will take candy donations. If you have a flair for or love decorating, please volunteer because we will need lots of that. It’s going to be a good time for everyone!
Please contact Tracy Akins at 251-979-7798 if you are willing and able to help.

The Gospel of Matthew

We look forward to studying God’s Word with each of you and hearing your unique perspectives.

►Adult Sunday school class led by Cheryl Jensen
Please join us as we continue our study in the New Testament.
We meet at 9 a.m. in room 2 in the annex for Bible study and coffee.
►Snacks with Susan and Daryl Sunday school class
Join us in the fellowship hall for Creed by Adam Hamilton. We watch a DVD each week on a different topic and discuss. There’s also a companion book (not required at all, but if you’d like one just let us know). We hope you’ll lend your voice to our conversation on Sundays at 9 a.m. in the fellowship hall.
The food pantry will be open again on Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. to serve the community.
We served 29 households and 49 individuals on Sept. 22.
Special thanks to Al Sprouse, Susan Saylor, Marvin King and Jim Runtz for their help with the food pantry.
If you are in financial need from lack of work, medical bills, or other reasons, please contact pastors Keith or Jody Beth for financial assistance. Your generosity to the pastors’ discretionary fund allows us to provide those in need with financial support.
►Warning on email, text messages
If you receive an email or text message that appears to be from Pastor Keith requesting money or one that seems suspicious, please contact Pastor Keith before responding.
October is Stewardship Month. You should have received a letter from our stewardship committee. Please prayerfully consider making a commitment that will allow Swift Church to continue doing God’s work and spreading God’s word throughout our community and beyond.
Thank you for your generous and ongoing financial contributions to Swift Church.
Your tithes and offerings given online, via mail, or at in-person worship enable us to continue the ministry of the church.
Don’t forget to turn in your 2022 pledge cards. If you need one, they are available on the back table of the sanctuary..
If you are an avid reader — young or old — come check out our library in the annex. Not only are there classics and books for young readers, there are biographies, fiction and even books featuring religious topics. Come browse on a rainy day and check out a book. You will be surprised with the many familiar authors and topics available.
Prayers and joys
►Please let us know . . .
Please call the church or email to notify us of any joys or concerns; birthdays, anniversaries, health issues or family deaths so that we may put it in the weekly emailed announcements for your church family to pray with you or to praise God for your joy. (We don’t publish personal prayer concerns on the website.)
