A prayer for connection
Father God, being alone is hard. We were created for community, not confinement. But we’re grateful that no matter how alone we may feel, you never leave nor forsake us. And, we’re grateful for technology that helps us stay in touch with each other. Today, please remind us that this time of social distancing and isolation will not last forever. Give us the strength to endure this difficult season, and deepen our connection with you and your people. Empower us with an extra dose of your love, peace, hope and joy, because we need it. Remind us of your promises, and please heal our land. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A prayer for a deeper faith and love for Jesus
We pray that we will place our entire faith in your precious word. May we develop an ever deepening trust in you, knowing that your word is faithful and true. May we be nourished by the Word of God day by day and be refreshed with rivers of living water that stream into our hearts from above, so that whatsoever we do will be pleasing to the Lord and glorify His name. Thank You that in Christ we have been forgiven of all our sins and delivered from the power of sin in our lives, and may we pass on a trust in the Lord Jesus to our children and children’s children, so that in the next generations a living trust in God may be their witness to the world, and faith in His word may be a testimony that will also pass on to all their children. Amen.
|Online Zoom Bible study |
It’s open to all members and friends
The Thursday morning Bible study began April 16 as an online study, through a tool called Zoom. It can be accessed on a computer or smart phone. We will “meet” Thursdays, 10 to10:40 a.m. We will also send out a weekly email to help keep us connected.
Materials will be your Bible and a study book, Knowing the Bible: Exodus. We are going through Exodus chapter by chapter; an appropriate book to study in these days of what may feel like exile to many of us.
For more information, contact Pastor Jody Beth, 251-213-6625.
A prayer for a servant’s heart
Give me an obedient heart, Lord, to do those things I know you call me to do but which I sometimes neglect or ignore. Help me forget myself and truly help others. Shape my worries into prayers and my prayers into practices that serve your purposes as I serve others. May I never feel embarrassed to speak for You, Jesus, or to act on the behalf of those who suffer. Remain at my side as you push me toward people who need your sustaining presence. Help me live for others, Christ, as you have lived and died for me. Forgive me; change me; use me. Amen.
The food pantry remains open every Wednesday, 10 a.m. to noon, until further notice. Delivery is also offered to all members and friends, to keep people from having to go to the store and/or the food pantry. If your work hours have been cut, you are required to participate! Contact Pastor Jody Beth, 213-6625 to have a bag dropped off outside your home or work.
If you are in financial need because of COVID-19 — lack of work, medical bills, no stimulus check, or other reasons — please contact Pastors Keith or Jody Beth for a confidential conversation about how Swift Church can help you financially.
A prayer for abundant life
I give you my hands, my heart, my hope, Lord. Use the change in me to change others for you. You invite me to give, Lord; now strengthen me to greater generosity so that I may discover your peace and joy and contentment beyond my understanding. Help me to put aside selfishness to look honestly at my giving through your eyes. Help me to increase in generosity until it can be said that there is no needy person among us. Above all, help me to be generous because you, Father, are generous. May we be your hands and your feet, your light and your love to all the world. Amen.
Although we are not meeting “in person,” please remember to mail or drop off your tithing and your special offering for “One Great Hour of Sharing” during this time of separation. You can also give online through the secure donation portal linked from our website.
|A prayer for our nation|
Dear God, as we face these uncertain times in our nation and the world, we ask you, Lord, to dwell among us. We are comforted by the knowledge that you alone are our Savior and Lord, and the ultimate Master of life. We trust our nation to your loving care, Lord. Send your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation’s leaders. Give them the wisdom to know what is right, and the courage to do it. Give us your light and your truth to guide us in our ways so that we may seek your will in our lives and impact the world around us for your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
The 2020 church directories have been mailed out. You should get yours next week if you haven’t already.
