Worship
SUNDAY
►10 a.m. in the sanctuary

Proclaiming the Word:
Scripture and Songs

■ The Lord’s Supper will be served. Everyone is invited to the table.

■ This is our designated monthly “bring a friend” day. We welcome all who join us for worship, study and fellowship — today and each time we gather.

■ To join “live stream” worship, go to Facebook — Swift Presbyterian Church.

■ Worship services are available for viewing in the afternoon on the church website and YouTube.

■ Bulletins for today and recent weeks. Click here.

God is good all the time.

Dates to remember . . .

■ Handbell choir rehearsal — Wednesdays at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary

■ Adult choir rehearsal — Wednesdays at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary

■ The intercessory prayer group is taking a break during the summer months. Watch for updates for when the group will resume meeting this fall.

■ Our food pantry is open to serve the community on Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m.

Many of the ladies of our church gathered on Monday for “Summer Salads and Psalms.” As part of the Bible study of Psalm 1 and Psalm 23, we were asked to write our own psalm. Below are some of the beautiful psalms written by women of our church … perhaps one of these might be your psalm as well.

■ Help me to be a better Christian every day. The one I want to be and the one You want me to be. Show me the way every day. Open my eyes to see as You see. I want to be like you, Lord — loving and kind.

■ God, thank you for all you do for me and everyone on earth. Help me to avoid the stupid choices in my life — where I’m lazy-minded and slip into petty behavior so easily. Don’t let me take the coward’s way out when I need to be brave. Help me create good habits in my faith and intentionally study and learn. Help me choose the right way, not the easy way. Help me appreciate all that I have.

■ Answer my prayers, O Lord, for I have waited for years. At last, You have answered me and in my joy I give you praise. Hallelujah and Amen.

■ I long to be in Your presence. But the noise of life often drowns Your voice. Quiet the noise, let me find the silence as comfort. Help me to be still. Speak to me the words I need to hear. Steady me with Your love and comfort. Let me be in the moment and take time to listen.

■ My gracious God, please lead me and all others in the right path so I or others will not cause You sorrow. You make us to be Your children, so teach us to do the same and be able to bring glory to Your name. Remember You have the lock on the door and if bad folks are on their way out to do some really bad things, just throw away the key and stop the bad things.

■ Let joy approach every day with thanksgiving for life. Enter my heart as I grieve with sadness. Thou are with me through the valleys and mountain tops. Allow me to seek justice for those whose life trials are too much for them to handle. Shield me from the wicked so my path is straight and narrow. I bless You as You bless me.
