    ►Sunday evening worship

Plans for another Sunday night worship service are on hold since one would fall on Aug. 30, when a morning worship service is scheduled outside the chapel.

Please read the following session meeting report concerning upcoming worship services.

    ►Session meeting

The session met on Monday, Aug. 17, to review the recommendations for reopening worship in the chapel and sanctuary. According to their decisions, the church will follow the guidelines presented in Step 3 and on Aug. 30 and Sept. 6, services will be held in the front yard outside the chapel at 8 a.m., if weather allows. Then beginning Sept. 13, services will be held in the sanctuary at 10 a.m. All special precautions will be observed such as masks, social distancing, cleanliness, etc. Be sure to watch for and read the special emails that will be sent out in the next few weeks concerning these arrangements. We will all look forward to holding our services together again, but only if the pandemic continues to show signs of decreased infections in the area.

Please note that we will continue to post complete worship services online via Facebook and YouTube as we have done since March. These will be available at 10:00 Sunday mornings or anytime following. We will also continue to send printed sermons by postal mail to those who wish to continue receiving them.

    ►Swift Church survey

A survey concerning our church was emailed or sent to you by snail mail this week. It is also available on the Swift Facebook page. It is important that you fill it out and send it back as soon as possible so that your voice will be heard on the future direction of services.

    ►Congregational meeting

During the Aug. 30 meeting at 8 a.m. outside the chapel, a congregational meeting will be held to determine members of the nominating committee. This is an important committee since they will be responsible for choosing those elders and deacons and trustee to serve, and that the congregation will select to guide us for the next few years.

    Radical hospitality

We continue to practice radical hospitality by ongoing contact with our church family. Let us welcome God in, receive God’s love and make room for God in our lives. Let us pray that we will soon be together again, focusing on receiving God’s love and sharing it with others.

    Intentional faith development
►‘Snacks with Susan and Daryl’ Sunday school class

We will continue our discussion using “What Makes You Happy (It’s Not What You Expect).” We invite you to join us in the fellowship hall at 9 a.m. for some lively discussion and challenging questions. If you want to follow along remotely, the videos are available on YouTube.

    — Susan and Daryl Pichoff

►Adult Sunday school class, led by Cheryl

Cheryl’s class will meet this Sunday, Aug. 23, continuing our study in Philippians in room 2 in the annex.

    — Cheryl Jensen

    ►Copies of ‘Our Daily Bread’

Our September–November devotional booklets have arrived. Please come by and pick one up or let us know so we can deliver one to you. You can also find the devotionals and more online at odb.org.

    Risk-taking mission and service
    ►Food pantry update

Our food pantry will be open on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 10 to 11 a.m.

    ►Elberta Elementary School

Our August mission is Elberta Elementary School. Please indicate on your check if you wish to make an additional donation to this mission. Swift Church recently donated two months of snacks for students. In addition to snacks, we are also providing uniforms for the students as needed. Thank you for your continued support of Swift’s ministry to the children of Elberta Elementary School.

    ►Swift financial help

If you are in financial need because of COVID-19 — lack of work, medical bills, no stimulus check, or other reasons — please contact Pastors Keith or Jody Beth for a confidential conversation about how Swift Church can help you financially.

    ►Warning on email, text messages

If you receive an email or text message that appears to be from Pastor Keith requesting money or one that seems suspicious, please contact Pastor Keith before responding.

    Extravagant generosity
    ►Tithes and offerings

Thank you for your generous and ongoing offerings during this season of separation. Your financial support, through checks or online giving through our website, enable Swift Church ministry to continue. Mission support, pastoral care, worship leadership, property maintenance and education depend on your extravagant generosity.

    Prayers and joys
    ►Please let us know . . .

During this time of online worship, please know that you can call the church or email to notify us of any joys or concerns; birthdays, anniversaries, health issues or family deaths so that we may put it in the weekly emailed announcements for your church family to pray with you or to praise God for your joy. (We don’t publish personal prayer concerns on the website.) swiftpastor@gmail.com, jodybeth7@yahoo.com or swiftpc@gulftel.com.
