■ Worship services will be available for viewing after “live stream” on the church website and YouTube.
■ The services for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday are also available on the church website.
■ If the weather is inclement, we will have our service in the sanctuary.
We will celebrate moms this year on Sunday, May 9, with a slide show during both our in-person and online services. Send a photo with your mother’s name NO LATER THAN April 30. We do not have access to photos that you submitted last year. Send your photo and information to Pastor Jody Beth at last JodyBeth7@yahoo.com.
►Volunteers for worship
As more children drop out as acolyte volunteers, or adults as “time with the children” volunteers, Greg McNair needs your help by offering to be a part of these important endeavors of our worship services. Contact Greg at 251-965-1003 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We continue to practice radical hospitality by ongoing contact with our church family. Let us welcome God in, receive God’s love and make room for God in our lives. Let us pray that we all will soon be together again, focusing on receiving God’s love and sharing it with others.
Intentional faith development
►Snacks with Susan and Daryl Sunday school class
“Snacks with Susan and Daryl” is taking a break and will resume again on April 11.
We will begin our new study — Moses (In the Footsteps of a Reluctant Prophet). Books for the study will be $5; if you would like a book, please let Susan know as soon as possible so she can place an order.
The class normally meets at 9 a.m. in the fellowship hall.
►Adult Sunday school class led by Cheryl Jensen
Join us this week as we continue our study of the New Testament. Please join us at 9 a.m. in room 2 in the annex.
►Online Zoom Bible study
‘How did you hear God speaking to you?’
April 15 – May 27 • 10 to 11:30 a.m.
The Thursday morning online Bible study group has finished the Lenten Bible study series. We are grateful to the Rev. Mike Brewer for his leadership. He shared his wisdom and his warmth and helped facilitate thought provoking biblically based conversations. We appreciate that he shared his time and talent with the Swift Church family.
We are going to continue with the format of focusing each Thursday on the previous Sunday’s Scripture and sermon as we did during the Lenten study. This time, we will be asking one another “How did you hear God speaking to you?” each week.
Because we have several participants who live too far to attend in person, and because Swift offers two outstanding in-person Sunday School classes as group Bible study options, the Thursday morning group will continue as an online study using Zoom technology. Pastor Jody Beth and Philip will facilitate. New to Zoom? We can set up a “practice session” for you to learn the basics.
Contact Pastor Jody Beth, 251-213-6625 for the Zoom links, a practice session and/or for more information.
►Youth group meeting again
The youth will meet Sunday evening, April 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. Please come and bring your friends.
Risk-taking mission and service
Our mission focus during April is One Great Hour of Sharing. Each gift to OGHS supports efforts to relieve hunger through the Presbyterian Hunger Program, promote development through the Presbyterian committee on the self-development of people, and assist in areas of disaster through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
To date, we have received $929 in contributions.
Please donate as your heart leads you for this worthwhile charity.
►Food pantry update
The food pantry will be open April 14 and 28 to serve families in our area. Hours are 10 to 11 a.m.
Volunteers are always needed and welcome to help with the food pantry ministry. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Kathy Menk at 251-518-7966.
►Swift financial help
If you are in financial need from lack of work, medical bills, or other reasons, please contact pastors Keith or Jody Beth for financial assistance. Your generosity to the pastors’ discretionary fund allows us to provide those in need with financial support.
►Warning on email, text messages
If you receive an email or text message that appears to be from Pastor Keith requesting money or one that seems suspicious, please contact Pastor Keith before responding.
►Tithes and offerings
Thank you for your generous and ongoing offerings. Your financial support, through checks or online giving through our website, enable Swift Church ministry to continue.
Prayers and joys
►Please let us know . . .
Please call the church or email to notify us of any joys or concerns; birthdays, anniversaries, health issues or family deaths so that we may put it in the weekly emailed announcements for your church family to pray with you or to praise God for your joy. (We don’t publish personal prayer concerns on the website.)
